Unveiling the Box "Dreams and Chimeras"

This Box brings you a slice of Siena, "city of Dreams and Chimeras" as it is sung in an ancient Sienese stornello and a city with a distinctive medieval spirit.

As you might know, the Chimera is a fantastic monster from Eastern mythology, later absorbed into Greek mythology, according to which it had three heads, one of a lion, one of a goat and one of a snake, which spewed flames. He also had other depictions, but this is the most common. The Chimera has become a symbol of illusions, strange ambitions, risky fantasies, unrealizable and dangerous dreams. So here is my wish for us all:

Don't let your dreams turn into chimeras.

I wish you all the joy of the season.

Box No. 6 Dreams & Chimeras

Box No. 6 Dreams & Chimeras

Ciao,

Let me introduce the theme of this year's last Surprise Box.

While creating Surprise Box number 6 my feelings were mixed. Excited to show a place that now belongs to my everyday life but not entirely convinced of using a Surprise Box to make you part of this journey with My Box From Italy.
I knew that I wanted to dedicate Box No. 6 to Siena and the surrounding area. Siena, born with the Etruscan Empire, evolved with the Roman Empire to reach the peak of its splendor in the Middle Ages.
Along with this, however, my thoughts often turned to the fate of this project. “A dream” on which I have worked hard and by my self for the last two years, with the intention of proposing a new way of discovering Italy, through the arts and craftsmanship which over time have shaped the territory and in turn they allow themselves to be influenced by it. An ambitious project, a dream indeed, or perhaps a Chimera?

Unveiling the Box "Mirabilia"

There is no way to explore the world without leaving home. How can we try to escape the everyday life to try to savor the intense feeling that, actually, only a trip can give us?
How can we know the beauty out there just by reading about it in a magazine…?

Today, I am happy to present Surprise Box No. 5.
When I put this box together, I curated a collection of objects that could tell the story of the Marche region, objects that caught my eye because of their uniqueness and history.
Discover Mirabilia's surprises.

Mirabilia’s Sites

In My Box from Italy, our craftspeople are the soul of the project.
We choose every artist carefully, making sure they represent Italian art and culture. Each and every item selected for the Boxes must bring you a piece of Italy to let you savor the beauty of this Country. Today, however, I would like to start by briefly introducing the area where I went in search of arts and crafts that could represent the Italian region of the Marche.

Box No. 5: The Mirabilia Box

Today, I present to you a box Meravigliosa, which holds treasures that have transcended time but may not cross over into the present because of modernity that does not leave much room for ancient arts workshops. I will tell you their stories, because passing on the knowledge, the reason why these objects exist is one of the values of My Box from Italy.

THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW A DREAM

THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW A DREAM

What I will tell you today is the story of an artist, a young Italian craftswoman.
I invited Sara for a coffee because I wanted to know her story.
How many people have you met in your life who dared to follow a dream?
I don't know many, but Sara is one of them.
And so, today I also tell you about courage, "coraggio" in Italian, a word derived from Latin, formed by cor, heart, and habeo, to have.
Avere cuore, to have a heart.
One might think that Sara's workshop was born by chance, the randomness of a few events that determined the path of a young artist. Stopping to listen to her instead, I discovered a true story of heart and courage that I would like to share with you.
